I know what you want. It's something we all want. We want to make money online. And we want to do this because we're tired of working hard.
We go to work, spend eight hours dealing with crap we really don't care about, and then come home to make dinner, hit the gym, or whatever else we can squeeze in. We count down the days until the weekend or our next day off and we spend our free time, or sneaky work time, looking for events and fun things to do on those days.
Then we have to figure out how we're going to pay for them!
If it sounds like a vicious cycle, there's a reason for that. You are, in fact, locked into a vicious cycle. How do you beat it? How do you make money online while you sleep so you can afford to take vacations and buy the things you want to have?
Today, we'll be covering blogging and how you can bring in some cash with it, so read on.
This method takes a while. The average blogger doesn't make much. However, if you can stick with it for years, you can earn some decent income off of it.
The first thing you need is a plan. Most blogs take a while to take off because the average blogger has one of two goals in mind
To successfully blog, you need to write for yourself. Pick a topic you're passionate about and something you're also an expert on. If you aren't expert, but committed to becoming one, that also works, as your readers can learn as you do. This is actually a great way to earn trust from your readers.
Secondly, you need to write with consideration to your readers. Remember there are people who trust you and look up to you who will be reading this within a few minutes or hours after you hit the publish button.
Thirdly, you need to blog for Google. While you don't need to become an SEO master, you need a basic understanding of what the search engines are looking for. To get the kind of traffic numbers you'll need to build a business, you can't rely on traffic from social media forever. Sooner or later, you'll have to build organic traffic through searches.
Expect to be blogging for at least a year, possibly even two, before you start looking at how to make money online with your blog.
Start slowly, put up a few ads after six months to a year and see how they do. If you notice some cash trickling in, keep them around until you get the numbers to attract better paying ad networks.
Next, once you're bringing in loyal and dedicated readers, you can try your hand at affiliate marketing. You'll be paid a commission from the company based on sales that come through your tracking link. Click here to see one such site that does very well.
You can also design and sell your own products. You can post links to an Etsy store, or you can create digital products and sell them directly through your site.
How to Make Money Online with a Blog - Wrapping It all Up
I'm making this sound a lot easier than it actually is and this is part of the problem. Many bloggers jump on the bandwagon to make a quick buck. These people don't last long, as most readers have caught on to this type of scheme to make money online and shun these blogs as fast as they pop up.
This is why creating amazing content for yourself and your readers should be your top priority. If you have the time and the creative outlet is more important than a few extra dollars, give it a try. Most people are surprised at how easily they become obsessed with their blog.
Thanks for reading and I look forward to seeing you next time for more tips on how to make money online.
